How to install SuperSprings

Most SuperSprings installations can be completed in under an hour with basic tools. Be sure to follow the specific instructions included with your kit, as hardware and mounting points may vary by vehicle.

Installing SuperSprings® is a straightforward way to reduce rear-end sag, improve load support, and increase stability without affecting ride quality when the vehicle is unloaded. Unlike airbags that require air compressors or add-a-leaf kits that stiffen suspension permanently, SuperSprings® self-adjust to varying loads.

Tools & Safety Precautions

Required Tools:

  • Socket wrench set (typically ¾”)
  • Torque wrench
  • Floor jack and jack stands
  • Wheel chocks
  • Work gloves and safety glasses
  • Heavy-duty clamps (if preload adjustment is required)

Safety First

  • Work on a flat, stable surface.
  • Engage the parking brake and chock the front wheels.
  • Turn off the ignition and ensure the work area is clear of obstructions.

Step 1: Prepare the Vehicle

  1. Park on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and place wheel chocks in front of the front wheels.
  2. If necessary, lift the vehicle’s rear end slightly using a jack and secure it with jack stands. Some installations can be done without lifting, but raising the rear can make access easier.

Step 2: Locate the Leaf Springs

SuperSprings® are installed above the factory leaf spring pack using self-adjusting shackles.

  1. Locate the rear leaf springs under the axle.
  2. Inspect the area for any obstructions, such as brake lines or brackets. Adjust positioning if needed to ensure a clear mounting space.

Step 3: Position the SuperSprings®

  1. If your kit includes a polyurethane spring pad (PSP-12), place it on top of the leaf spring pack, centered between the U-bolts.
  2. Position the SuperSpring® over the PSP or directly on the leaf pack, ensuring proper alignment.
  3. Confirm that the shackles are facing the correct direction, typically with the threaded ends pointing outward.

Step 4: Install Shackles & Rollers

  1. Rotate the shackles downward, making sure they sit properly around both sides of the leaf spring.
  2. If the installation requires preload adjustments, use heavy-duty clamps to compress the SuperSpring® against the leaf pack.
  3. Insert the HDPE rollers and sleeves into the shackles.
  4. Secure the shackle bolts and nylock nuts but leave them slightly loose for final positioning.

Step 5: Adjust & Torque Fasteners

  1. Ensure there is at least ½” clearance between the SuperSprings® and any surrounding components.
  2. Double-check that there is no interference with brake lines or wiring harnesses. If needed, adjust their routing slightly.
  3. Torque all shackle bolts to the manufacturer’s recommended specifications (typically 35 ft-lbs, but refer to your kit instructions).

Step 6: Lower the Vehicle & Test the Installation

  1. Lower the vehicle and remove the jack stands.
  2. Take the truck or van for a short test drive to check for:
    • Less sag when carrying loads
    • Improved stability and reduced sway
    • A more controlled ride over rough surfaces

Final Check & Maintenance

  1. After 200–500 miles, inspect all hardware and retighten if necessary.
  2. Register your SuperSprings® for warranty coverage.
  3. Enjoy the improved suspension support without the need for ongoing adjustments or maintenance.

By following these steps, you can install SuperSprings® efficiently, improving load handling and overall ride stability.
